  1. Net fishing was much more popular long ago than it is now. There are different nets for different kinds of fish. Kenmare River was a noted place for fishing herring some years gone by. My Grandfather on Dawrus was a great herring net fisher. Herring nets are always fished in bright moon because in the dark moon there is light in the water, and the herring can see the net. The light is called barsoish.
