  1. The first motor that passed this district and that the people took any notice of was the King and Queen of England. Crowds of people followed them to Dereen. There were flags flying in every place. There were Detectives on every mile of the road keeping off the animals. There were five or six motors there altogether. He stayed for two hours at Dereen. He went from Castletown on board a battleship. The King and Queen planted a tree each in Dereen and they are now called the King’s and Queen’s trees. There
