  1. Long ago Jeremiah Mc Carthy and his brother Flor of Ardea were two great oarsmen. They used win every race. No other oarsmen used like them. Once two men from Ardgroom were winning all the races and the Mc Carthys were getting afraid of them because they were thinking they would be beaten. There was going to be a regatta in Bunaw the following Sunday. The two men from Ardgroom came east to ask them to pull against them. Jeremiah was a very cranky fellow and he hated to be beaten in a race. He gave them
