  1. There was a farmer there long ago. One morning he went to carry home his cows to milk them. As he was drawing near the cows, he saw a hare sucking one of his cows paps. Another man came along and met the farmer. The farmer told him about what he had seen. The other man said, that he had two hounds at home, and that he would hunt the hare. Next morning he saw the hare sucking the cow again. The hounds saw the hare and followed it a mile and turned it on top of a lump, but they did not catch it. The hounds followed it until the hare reached
