    be outdone however, and the new owner soon discovered that his bargain had not been a good one. Evening after evening the cow found her way to the old rendezvous and came to the stall already milked. Hedges or wires could not hold her back and finally she was sold to the butcher and killed for beef. The other cows on the farm never followed her example and the farmer took good care not to invest in a white cow again.
