    Níl mo shláinte ar fóghnamh ó scaras leis an ól so,
    Tá casachtach is breóiteacht, is galar trom im' chroidhe
    Is é deir liom na mná óga gur cumhainfidh suas mo scórnach,
    Ná seinnfinn túin nó ceól dóibh,
    Go rinnefidís dom ríl.

    Eirigh suas go rómhach, is cuir-se díot do bhóthar,
    Is tháinig puirt ded' gnó féin, má maireann beó dod' mhaoin.
