  1. The nailers in Ballyragget were numerous and busy in years gone by. Pat and Dan Coogan, Mathew Loughman, John Lacey and Richard Keenan were the principal ones.
    The rod iron had first to be heated. They they had special tools for cutting them and for shaping the heads on the nails.
    Local shoe makers were suppllied and nails were sold also in the city of Kilkenny. The trade is not carried on at present.
