Boys made cribs of a triangle shaped from bits of sally switches. These were used for trapping birds. They also made snares for catching hares by twisting a piece of wire and putting a loop at the end. A peg was put at the other end and a piece of string was tied from a peg to loop.

Girls gathered cowslips and made "dodgie balls" as they are called. Firstly they took the heads off the cowslips and put them on a piece of string. They turned the string over then and tied it firmly.
