  1. In olden times the people had many remedies for their ailments. When they had sore throats they used to fill a stocking with salt and put it around their throats and it cured them. When they had a pain in their stomach they thought it right to warm a plate and put it to it. When a rash came out they used to eat nettles. When they had sores they made ointment from herbs. They used to warm buttermilk and they used goose grease for rheumatism.
