- The Smithstown road was made a hundred years ago. It leads from the metal bridge of Clorinka, Ballyfoyle, Co Kilkenny to Smithstown cross of Smithstown, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny. It is called the Smithstown road because there was a black smith living at the Smithstown cross. His name was Mr. Patrick Deary of Smithstown, Castlecomer, Co Kilkenny. Conway's road so called because Conway's house is built on it. There was a forge below Mr. Conway's house. Marums used to work in it. The new road is so called because it is not long made (about twenty years ago. There is supposed to be a spirit at the end of this road. It leads from the ballalley of Muckalee, Ballyfoyle, Co Kilkenny to the Castle-Comer road. The Creamery road so called because the creamery is built(continues on next page)
