  1. One night there were some men playing cards. A man came in and he sat down to play cards with them. One of the cards fell and a man picked it up. When he was picking it up he saw a hoof on the man who had come in. The man was the devil.

  2. One time there was an old man who had no one living with him but his nephew. The nephew died before himself. When the old man died the house was sold. The people who bought the house used to hear a great noise in one of the rooms. They were all afraid to go into that room. One woman said that she would go into that room and sleep in it. There was one corner of the room which was closed in with iron bars. During the night the woman heard a great noise. She thought she heard it in
