  1. Bread was made from wheat long ago. The ingredients were wheat, salt, cream of tartar, and water sweetened with sugar. They made the cake on a sort of a pot with four legs, a hole was in the pot to bake the cake. A cross was made on the top of the cake, they said if they didn't the fairies would follow them. They had a griddled cake for special occasions. It was made on a griddle lain on the fire. The bread they made was made of oatmeal.
