  1. There was once a man named Barry Collins in Kilcollan. He built the "Pigeon House" and used to keep pigeons in it. He used to grow a huge amount of corn and when it would be ripe he used to let the pigeons out to eat it. He used to earn his living by selling the pigeons. The man lived to be very old and when he died there was no one to feed the pigeons and they all died of hunger in the Pigeon House.
    That is why the ruins are now known as the Pigeon House
