  1. The children here amuse themselves in many ways.
My sisters and I prefer "cubby houses" to any other play-things.
We make them with boxes and boards that are not needed in the house.
We choose a sheltered part of the haggard for our "cubby houses".
We usually fix the boards to a fence and then decorate them with broken pieces of delph which are called "chainees".
We collect empty cocoa tins, jam pots etc to furnish our 'house'.
Then we play "shops" and "school".
and play with entertaining friend to tea.
We make dolls by sewing pieces of cloth together and packing them with meal or bran.
We string daisies together on a piece of cotton thread to form a necklace.
We make pancakes and buns of mud.
We make a swing with a rope tied to a tree and then swing one another.
We also make hats of rushes and straw.
