    The child is laid flat on the floor and a large door key quite cold is placed on the back of the neck.
    Whooping Cough:-
    A piece of seals skin is tied round the child's neck to help it to whoop.
    Mumps:-
    A poultice of hot bran or salt is applied to the throat.
    Cuts:-
    The cut is covered with cobwebs to stop the bleeding.
    Rheumatism:-
    Hot fomentations of boiled seaweed.
    To draw out the pus:-
    A plaster of sugar and soap boiled together is applied.
