The nearest fort to the school is Wilsons fort.

    (continued from previous page)
tradition that this fort is hollow and that a cave goes from it to Christy Kieran's hill in Tullyraghan about a mile away. This fort now owned by Mr Wilson was once the property of Mr William Bailey. He got a local labourer Tom Hanratty now dead (one year) to plough the Rath. Shortly afterwards his neck and legs became twisted. This twisting is said to have caused his death and was supposed to be a punishment for interfearing with the fort.
