  1. The people long ago, used to live on Oaten, bread which was made from raw potatoes.
    The receipt of Oaten-cake is,
    Put some flour, and a pinch of salt. Then mix it well. Then put in a piece of butter. Then put in some warm water. Cut then in squares or rounds, and put it in an Oven until it is brown.
    Sleeket = is a word used by old people, where we now use the word sleeky.
    It is thought that this word comes from the Irish sliogac.
    Boxty is a word used by old people, to describe things big and awkward.
