  1. Here are some of the old prayers that are said in this district.
When lighting the lamp at night:-
Lord send us the light of Heaven.
    When in bed:-
    (1)
Here I lay me down to sleep,
To God I give my soul to keep,
And if I die before I sleep,
To God I give my soul to keep,
    Wake in hour waken never,
Lord Jesus receive my soul for ever.
    (2)
    If any evil bothers me,
    Sweet Blessed Virgin waken me.
    (3)
    Lord within and Lord without
and Lord of Heaven be about us.
    (4)
There are four corners on my bed,
There are four angels on my spread
    Matthew Mark, Luke and John,
God bless the bed that I lie on.
    (5)
As I put my right foot in to bed.
