  1. Lucky days and unlucky
The third day after Christmas is reckoned a very unlucky day to start any work. Friday is considered a very lucky day on which to begin any undertaking. People always moved to their new homes on Friday. Whit week and especially Whit Monday considered unlucky. A child or animal born on Whit Monday was counted an unlucky omen for the house. The child or animal was said to either kill or be killed.
