  1. Cattle supposed to be overlooked
The owner of the animal got some one to write all the letters of the alphabet in their order on a sheet of paper. The sign of the Cross was made on this paper with the pen three times, the paper was then sprinkled with holy water and burned under the animals nose. Some of the ashes of the paper were put in the mouth of the affected animal and the cure was then complete.
