  1. There is an old thatched house in Gragernagh on the land of Edward McCooey where the foundry work was carried on about seventy years ago. The foundry man was the name of Corrigan and made smoothing irons for all the country round.
    The most difficult part of the work was to give the irons a smooth face. The face of each iron was held to a large grind stone and the twisting of the stone was most laborious work. He gave all his irons a fine finish and was looked upon as a great tradesman.
