  1. The Summer sun shines soft and gentle
    The flowers bloom in yonder vale
    The cuckoo's note I hear resounding
    From Carrickatee's lone shady dale

    Delighted now, I wandered lonely,
    So fair inviting was the day
    To trace my steps along the mountain
    My inclination bent that way.
    III
    Projecting rocks, wild and romantic
    Soared aloft before my view
    A murmuring stream around her borders
    Its winding course did not pursue
    IV
    In Carrickatee, so famed, and ancient
    No human being once did dwell,
    No voice was heard except the hunter's
    Resounding thro' the mossy dell.
