  2. The local fairs are held in towns in this county. The nearest towns are Ballybay, Castleblayney and Carrickmacross. Buyers sometimes come to farmers' houses to buy cattle or horses, but most of the business is done in the fair. In Ballybay the horse-fair is held in Barrackstreet on the third Friday in each month. The cattle and pig fairs are held on the third Saturday in each
