One time there was an old scutcher living in the townland of Readuff, Laragh P. O., Castleblayney, County Monaghan, beside a mill which belonged to a man called Robert Harrison. The scutcher was engaged in scutching the flax each year with Robert. He was addicted to drink. When he got drunk his teeth "chattered" and all the people around the neighbourhood were terror-stricken and ran away.
