The Gallows hill is situated at the end of the town of Carrickmacross. On this hill stands a tower made of stone and thickly covered in ivy. It is said that people were hanged there long ago. Others say there was meal ground there in olden days.

Fionn Mac Cool's Chair

There is a large rock, shaped like a chair, in Shirley's demesne called Fionn MacCool's chair.
It is said that was Fionn's resting place. It is said that anyone that sits on it can make a wish. Many people go to see this chair.
