  1. This disease occurs in Cattle, caused, it is believed by the fairies. If they hit a cow with a flint stone she could not move out of the spot until the cure is made.
    It is made with a colter of a plough. First the sign of the cross is made on the ground with the colter, then the colter is brought round the animal's body back to the ground again.
    Next the sign of the cross is made on the animal's back, the colter being then brought out between the horns, then underneath her and back to the ground again.
    This had to be repeated nine times.
