  1. The name of my townland is Greaghlattacapple, it is in the parish of Carrickmacross, and in the barony of Farney. There are thirteen families in it. The most common name in it is Hanratty. Most of the houses are slated. The land in it is very boggy and hilly. Numbers of people left this townland in the time of the famine and went to America. There is a high hill near it called Corduff mountain, it is the highest point between us and the sea. From where we live we can see a part of the Co. Cavan.
