Many years ago when the doctors were very scarce Old people used to perform themselves when the people would take a pain in their head The would take a cup of black tea to cure it When the people would have a toothache they would put a grain of soda in the teeth When the people would have a pain in their stomach they would take a spoonfull of soda in a cup of buttermilk to cure it Old people say that when a child has the measels to give a ferret some milk and when he has some of it taken to take it away and give it to the child and it would cure him some years ago when a child would have the whooping cough a man would get a pennyworth of sweets for him and give him one when the rise and another when set in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Ghost Amen and it would cure him
