  1. The list of the domestic animals at home are, The horse, cow, foal, calf, sheep lamb and goat. The names of the cows are the red one. the big one. the old one. and the black one. The people of this district say "how how" when driving the cows in and out of the field. The name of the cow house is the byre. The cows are always tied by the neck. The tyings are made of iron. They are not home made. There is palm left in the byre to ring luck on the stock and some people leave a cow's leg in it, to keep away the "black leg".

    The house in which horses are kept is called the stable. A man named James Reilly trotted a mare 10 miles without stopping. The names of the horses are Dolly and Daisy. Our stable is covered with zinc and the manger is about three feet above the ground. It is made of sticks and slabs. There are two stalls made of sticks for fear they would kick. The floor
