- In olden days in Scrachan there lived a family of Careys and it was made known to them one night that near a holly tree on their farms a crock of gold was hidden. On the way to the place a four leaved shamrock was to be found and another was to be found over the place where the crock was. If the Careys went looking for the gold during the day they would not find it because they were told they should go looking for it in the middle of the night. The Careys did not go looking for the gold because they were afraid something might happen them. The old people(continues on next page)
