  1. The townland in which I live is called Coolroe because when the land was ploughed a kind of brown soil turned up. There is a fort in our farm and the field in which it is built is called Páirc-a-Leaca. There is a cave in the centre of the fort but it is closed in. The moonlighters held their meetings in the fort during the time of landlordism in Ireland. There is another field in our farm called "Páirc na Crusha." There were reeks of turn and lime burning in a kiln in that field.
    Mahony-Harte was land-lord over Coolroe and he evicted the Caseys. One Sunday
