  1. There is an old house in our farm near the hill in Rusheenmore under the ground. It was supposed to be a lodge when the danes were in Ireland. There are big fences aroud around it, and a very old tree growing in the centre of it. A man tried to cut this tree and failed. He was about two hours trying to cut it and according as he would strike the tree a noise was heard under the ground. He missed his stroke once and the axe went down through the ground, and only for he catching the handle he would have his axe lost.
