  1. There is a great big rock in the neighbourhood of Gortdearg with the sign of a giants hand on it. One day it is said the giant was walking along the top of the paps and he hurled the rock into the air and it fell in a field about one hundred yards from the mountain. It stuck five foot into the ground and the sign of the giants hand is still on it.
