  1. Ross Castle was built by O'Donoghue. His tribe lived there for three hundred years. When Elizabeth ruled England she wanted Ross Castle. She sent Cromwell to Ireland giving him orders to get Ross Castle. General Ludlow heard that the castle could not be taken from the land side. One day while a battle was going on Ludlow got into the castle and forced a sentry to tell him a secret. The man told him a prophecy. "All Ross this say shall dane until on Lowe lakes strange ships shall sail".
