    People have a great many proverbs. A stitch in time saves nine. A rolling stone gathers no moss. If you do now sow in Spring you will not reap Autumn. There is no fire like your own fire. Rome was not built in a day. You cannot put an old head on young shoulders. A green Christmas makes a red Church yard. Necessity compels the hag to trot. If you have only one goat be in the middle of the [?] with him. The best hurler is always on the ditch. A person without a dinner is equal to two for the supper. A ditch in summer and a wall in winter are not sound. A watched pot never boils. The more hurry the less speed.

    There are a great many roads in the parish of Kilcummin, in the barony of maguinhy, but the chief one, the Scartaglen - Killarney road, and the Kilcummin - Gneevguilla road.
    There are cross roads in Anabla . The young men meet there every Sunday. In olden times when people were marking roads they got
