  1. There is a new church built now in Gneeveguilla. The old church was a small one. The roof of it was made of slate, and timber. There were three doors in it, one at the back, one at the front and one at the side.
    In olden times Gneeveguilla old church was a thatched church. It was built by Father Walsh It was built a good length of time before the famine year.
    There is a gravelled path leading into each door, and also an iron railing in front of it. It also has a bell for tolling when it is time for Mass. The old church that is in Gneevenguilla is surrounded with trees. A large crowd attended the mass every Sunday. There are no galleries in the Old Church. There were (contd.)
