  1. There was a Hedge-school in Cordal years ago just where John Jones the postman's house is now. They used learn Latin, Geography and Grammar there. They used write with a quill on a slate. They had no desks at all but a sod of turf and a board over it to raise it.The name of the teacher was Pat Collins. They had no stools but a board on which to sit.
