  1. Nearly a century ago there resided in cordal a old woman by the name of Mary Mullane. She was born in the Co Cork and came to live to Cordal very near to where the old Historic well of Tubbernavuene rises.
This grand old woman was known to a great many people owing to her great many visits to this well with strangers who came long distances away to wash their eyes in the holy well. During her life time she was a very hard worker with her spinning wheel making thread and cloving the flax to make linen sheets. Every Sunday this old woman would attend Mass dressed in a hooded cloak and a frilled white cap.
