- Cotton & woollen fabrics were dyed in this district though the description I have got are very vague & not full enough - I give it for what it is worth.
Mr. Reidy (grandson of Jerry Reidy aged 86 - still alive) says:-
"The used also dye cotton in the country with Mac-a-wee. (2. 2.) and blackening:"

- Michael Reidy mentioned in (i) above says:-
"The only thatcher was Dan Connell of Ballymacelligott He used to work for his hire, and used charge £1 per week." - This district of Ballymacelligott is an extensive fertile grassy district - much more suitable for grass and pasture than for crops, & from olden times it must be remarkable for the excellence of its milk. Even at the present day there are 3 creameries in it. Some time ago there were 5. showing that dairying and milk-producing rank first among its main industries Milk at present is taken to creameries but we must(continues on next page)
