- At the back of the Cloanbeg houses in Tralee is the "seven bell hole". It is said that a wife of a certain man died and that he married again. The stepmother was jelous of the children so she asked her husband to kill them.
The plot was fulfilled and the children were cast into a large hole where they died. Seven years the husband and wife were passing the hole and they heard mourning and a bell tolling they then knew that it was the children's ghost.
The man got sorry and killed his wife in a river near by, he then ran to "Gleann na nGealt" where he died with hunger not long after. Every seven years the bell is heard tolling and that is how the hole got its name.
