  2. Some years ago farmers believed that if they met a foxy haired girl when going to a fair they would be sure to have very bad luck that day.
    To meet a white horse it is supposed to be lucky particularly if the horse is coming towards you.
    In the country when people used make the butter in a barrel or churn any visitor to the house at that should give a turn at the butter-making. It was thought that good of the churn would go if the visitor did not give a turn.
    If a child is a born with a "Caul" it is very lucky. Captains of ship pay up to 300 for caul
