  1. In Derrymore there is a glen called "the reen." About fifty years ago there was a man cutting turf one day around "the Reen". When he had gone down about five sods to his amazement he saw lying underneath a huge man about three times the size of an ordinary man, he was clad in mail and a sword lay by his side. Near the gigantic figure was a small bottle full of some liquid and near it was a spoon. On the bottle
