- Not far from Ballybeggan castle there is an altar which still bears the prints of five fingers. Near the alter there is a stone of immense size. Underneath the stone there are supposed to be vestments and chalices of the Penal Days. Some men tried to pull the stone out of the ground, but they could not. So no one ever saw the chalices and vestments. The stone is not guarded.
