    the thatch of the Barracks and escaped and were never heard of from that day to this. After eight or nine days the body of the Peddlar was found floating in the Lake and was brought into Castlegregory. While lying in Castlegregory the rumour had spread all over the countryside and reached the ears of a certain Mary Farrel at Awnaseall. Hearing the story about the box and the broken golden ring, she thought she knew something about it and with two boys took a horse and cart and came all the way to Castlegregory. And when she saw the broken golden ring out of her boson she produced
