  1. From the earliest times some people believe that horses have power to speak on Christmas night. Many quaint stories are told about it.
    On one occasion during that Holy night a wealthy farmer sent his servant-boy out to secure everything before retiring.
    As he was passing the stable he heard the horses speaking inside. He immediately returned and told his master, who did not believe it, and had not courage enough to go and see.
    One member of the household who was sturdy, fat and heavy volunteered to go. He hid in the stable until mid-night Then they began to speak.
