  1. A man named O'Shea met a mermaid near Croome Tralee. He took either the cap or the rod which lay by her side, as she was combing her head of fine red hair.
    He brought the cap or rod home with him and she followed him. As she was a handsome young girl they both agreed to get married. They reared a family of handsome young girls.
    Any time that this man went out in a boat a storm arose. No matter how calm the tide was, it was sure to become stormy. He always had to return home again with his boat.
