  1. Long ago there was a fort near Cromane. One of the inhabitants had a sick child. She had no milk for him. A neighbour had a cow and she boasted that there was no vessel that the cow could not fill. She said that if her neighbour could get a vessel that the cow could not fill she could have the cow.
The woman with the child got a strainer and milked the cow into it, but the vessel could not be filled. Her neighbour became furious and refused to give the cow. A wind arose and the cow left her owner's field and went into the one which belonged to the woman who had won her. She had plenty milk for her child. The wind never ceased until the former owner consented to give the cow. Hence the place was called "Lios na Gaoithe ".

  2. Near "Lios na Gaoithe " there is a house. In it there was a lamp which never quenched. First the occupants tried to extinguish the light. But when they took their eyes from the lamp it lit again. The owner of the house is Tim Teahan. The lamp is lighting night and day and it is the brightest in the district. I am not sure if it is there now as it is some [time?] since I saw it.
