Parson Denny officiated at Churchill about 65 years ago and after his death he was succeeded by Parson Wade who continued on till 1893 or 1894 when it ceased as a place of worship - I don't get any nearer to the exact date from the few old people who remember both Parsons.
The Tomb - the oldest commemorating Hilliards who lived at Listrim House, is formed of large stone slabs.
Parson Denny lived in Churchill House near the Church - the house was then called the "Mansion" the country house of the Denny family who owned all the land from Tralee to the Sea west.
The Dennys were somewhat pro-Parliament in the Rebellion of 1641 but lost very little of their property - except Oak Park which was given to Cromwellians. They were connected by blood with the Protector and that accounted for their estates being almost intact after 1646.
Sir Edward Denny got 6,000 acres and the Castle of Tralee after the Geraldine Rebellion for £100 according to "Hidden Romantic Kerry" (Sullivan).
