    used. This was composed of a piece of leather. To each end of the leather a long cord was attached care being taken to have both cords even length. Placing a stone in the doubled leather the sling was wound quickly around the thrower's hand a few times. Then suddenly one cord was released and away sped the stone at least twice as far as it could be thrown out of the hand.
    Practice at this form of sport left the user almost an unerring aim ; as nine times out of ten he could strike a small object at a distance of fifty yards.
