  1. The local fairs are held in Gurteen and Monasteraden. Buyers also transact business at cross roads and at farmers' houses. Fairs were held in Bunninadden and Bellaghy but are not held there now. The fairs in Bunninadden have discontinued on account of some disagreement among the committee. The fairs in Bellaghy have discontinued on account of its been so near Charlestown where a very large fair is held.
    There is a special place in Gurteen and Monasteraden where a fair is held known as the "fair green".
